Lay insulation and cut out openings
Measure the insulation as an area, and take away the bits that are not to be there.
- 1
Draw the area the insulation lies on
Pick Area and click round the slab, or Fill area and click inside a closed outline to have it found for you.
Worth knowing. The scale has to be set before Area and Fill area can be used.
- 2
Pick Insulation in the panel
With the area selected you pick Insulation in the panel on the right. The fields then change to Insulation type, Class and Thickness instead of a depth in metres.
- 3
Fill in the class and the thickness
Pick the Insulation type, the Class and the Thickness. The quantity is counted as square metres of that particular product, not as a volume, because that is how insulation board is ordered.
- 4
Press Cut out to take a piece away
Find an opening in the slab, a lift shaft or a stairwell, and click Cut out on the row of the area in Drawn and measured. Then drag a box over the opening.
Worth knowing. The tool stays put after each box, so several holes come out of the same area without you picking it again. Press Done with the openings when you have finished.
- 5
Check that the area went down
The row in Drawn and measured shows how many openings the area has, and the square metres are worked out again straight away. If the figure does not get smaller, the box landed outside the area.
- 6
Do not lay two openings over each other
Overlapping openings take the same area away twice, so the quantity comes out too low. An opening that overlaps another is therefore stopped before it is laid.
- 7
Undo an opening
Ctrl+Z removes the last one, and on the row of the area the button Undo the last opening puts it back.
